what is with these sellers? - soundjunky - 02-05-2025 I have several eBay "alert" emails that I set up ages ago; Lately I am seeing a LOT of misinformed(?) eBay sellers; Is it that these are younger people who simply do not know any better, and are spouting off guesses as gospel?? Example #1: repeated listings of "promo" albums - but when you look at the actual item, only to see that it's a record club pressing. Example #2: repeated listings of "early/first press" albums - but when you look at the actual item, it's apparent that these are later variant pressings. On the upside, it appears as though there has been potential for deals on legitimate Australian Hormoaning cd's - all the suspect/bootleg Japanese pressings seem to be averaging with higher listed start or 'buy it now' prices.
RE: what is with these sellers? - miguelimarques - 02-07-2025 Nirvana’s market is where it has never been before! The hype is HUGE! This is also happening with other bands and I am not sure if it is sustainable. One thing is certain, the bubble will burst and many will not survive. I guess Nirvana will be one of the survivors; though it is fan unfortunately situation for the true collectors that are still looking for some early pressings (silly people like me) - Love Buzz goes now for £10,000!! I am guessing some sellers only have one thing in their minds - profitability! Their responsibility ends there. To protect themselves, buyers will need to be extra careful and vigilant. On the other hand, many think that they are selling holy grails (per example, an item worth £20 selling for £1000). It is an opened and free market and a seller can set any prices on any items, it is just for the buyer(s) to decide if they are willing to go for it or not. I believe all of us have bought items above their average value (sometimes we win, as their price increase over time and a few times we loose - resulting in a dynamic market and prices to rise!) By the way, I have a MTV Unplugged Indian Cassette clamshell and a Nevermind Saudi Arabia censored cassette for sale. Offers if interested!! I have an other items. Please ask for a list. (Using this post as a platform to sell, heeheheh) RE: what is with these sellers? - soundjunky - 03-18-2025 hmm... You made me look on popsike; maybe it's time to sell my copy of Love Buzz? RE: what is with these sellers? - miguelimarques - 03-19-2025 I can make you a 1998’s offer if you willing to accept it. ? £850 ? RE: what is with these sellers? - Sickboy - 03-21-2025 Hm, the $10.000 ones on Discogs do net really sell tho...
