I pulled out the In Utero LP today. Here are my observations about it.
It directly relates to this listing:
https://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-In-Utero/release/841259
And I'm performing a comparison to this one:
https://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-In-Utero/release/1559511
- It does not have a "Back To Black" sticker on it, but unless it's sealed, you probably wouldn't know that
- It will not have an MP3 download card included as an insert
- It should have a full-size, double-sided inner insert (not a sleeve). However, the reissues seem to have the same
- On my inner sleeve, there is the misspelling of "Heat-Shaped Box". However, Tourette's is spelled correctly, which doesn't appear to be the case for the reissue or the Canadian 2003 pressing
- On the back of the outer sleeve, under "Recorded by Steve Albini", there should only be three lines of text to the left of the barcode. The reissue has 5 lines. Further, the reissue only has the Sub Pop logo above the barcode. The 2003 copy has "424 536-1" and "LC 07266". The barcode is also formatted differently. Specifically, the reissue does not have the leading "0" and has the final "2" on its own at the end, whereas the 2003 copy has it right after the 1 ("0 720642 453612" instead of "7 20642 45361 2").
- On the record itself, there is only the code "424 536-1" whereas the reissue has "00720642453612".
- The 2003 copy has "BIEM/MCPS" and "LC 07266" added on the label to the right of the spindle hole. On the reissue, this information is at the end of "MADE IN THE EU" that runs along the outer edge of the label. The 2003 Canadian version will not say MADE IN THE EU.
Those are all of the differences I could identify.
