Strange Discogs experience…
#1
Last week, I sent two sellers a message through Discogs asking for pictures for an item on my want list. The record and sleeve grading was the same on both listings, and the price was pretty close. One seller was in France, and the other in Spain. Both of them have 100% feedback and a transaction history in the ~50 range.

Here’s the thing…they both sent me the exact same pictures. Not different pictures of obviously the same item, but identical photos. When I asked the second seller about it, he just acted like he had no idea and asked me who the other seller was. The first seller is now unresponsive.

I’m having a hard time just trying to wrap my head around what this situation is. Nothing I’ve come up with to explain it makes much sense. Any ideas?

Could be a scammer using different accounts?
The 100% feedback is strange, though. Have they left feedback for each other?

No, they haven’t left feedback for each other. It says one seller joined in 2003, and the other in 2020. The 2003 seller replied first, and gave me 5 photos. The 2020 seller replied 3 days later and gave me 4 of the 5 same photos as the first seller.

The only thing that makes sense in my head is that they’re related somehow. Perhaps a couple that split and one of them moved from Spain to France and took some of the other’s records. I don’t know. Hopefully one of them replies eventually to explain it. I’m not buying from either one until then.
