just curious if there is a reason...

I was looking over some stuff and happened to notice that even though some variants are exhaustive, there is no first press USA(Canada) & first press Europe records for Unplugged;

I believe that the band was intentional on doing hte first release of this album as a limited run in "coloured" vinyl - as this had become something of a trend post the success of Nevermind;
Incesticide was first released as a coloured LP (North America only iirc)
In Utero was first released as a coloured LP (North America only iirc)
Unlplugged was also first released as a coloured LP - except this time there was a European as well as a North American release.

I am not sure where is the best site now to get production numbers from, but this site is my favorite one to go to for variant/release information (besides sliver.it which hasn't been updated in quite some time).

Don't want to sound harsh, but I have no idea what you're talking about. I mean, aren't the US and DE white vinyl version the first presses? Could you make your point more clear?

The white vinyl's for both markets WERE indeed first pressings;
But they were different productions, and I think they had different runs.
I cannot offhand recall the pressings were quantities, but they each carry their own catalog numbers, matrix numbers and unique labels - so everything about them is unique... albeit subtle.

I believe that much like mine, the USA pressings were prone to having black speckling.

It could be simply a matter of profiting and practicality by releasing it separately in the USA and in Europe.

Kurt was gone and maybe less stress/pre-conditions on the way they were released.

And we know how much money they made with MTV Unplugged… trillions!!
