It is a shame that no one shared that this event was going to happen in the forum.
Anyway:

most people didnt know about it
originally it was a private charity event( black tie...dinner awards then music entertainment )
they had the main entertainment lineup along with dave grohl but not nirvana part
the organizers decided to open another section of the balcony as general admission and those people would arrive just before the music portion started
they let people know via email that a limited number of general admission tickets were available 2 days before
so it wasnt widely known

I am not a fan of St Vincent, but it makes more sense to me to have a female voice to sing Nirvana’s.
A male singer sounds as fake, even if Dave is playing drums and Chris on bass.

Do you have any preference names to sing Nirvana?
Though well known, it would be nice to see PJ Harvey taking a go.

ideally id want scott lucas of local h
unfortunately he wont do it because local h is his band and theyve got a new album coming out in a few months...plus a tour for that new album
however
he does a really great “rendition” of kurt
heres the audio from their halloween as nirvana show back in 2016
https://archive.org/details/localh2016-10-29.tapeworm48.flac16

theres video footage from this same show, however that audio isnt as good

without a kurt cobain sounding singer, the show is pretty much a dave grohl and friends playing nirvana songs that wont do the music justice
so theres no point in seeing that unless you want the novelty experience

I see you point, but the idea of trying to find a voice that emulates Kurt seems to be unnecessary or even a lack of respect for Nirvana’s and Kurt’s heritage.

My point is to bring the music to a different spectrum, offering to old and new fans originality.
For that, it seems to me that, a female voice would be an interesting and maybe the right choice.

My picks would be Kelli Mayo (Skating Polly), Alicia Bognanno (Bully) or Emily Armstrong (Dead Sara).

EDIT: It seems Dead Sara has done several covers already. Heart Shaped Box is pretty true to the original. Sliver is in a different style.
