New Items in Your Collection
Congrats!
Collecting is a very personal experience.
To find 6-8 very rare items in 12 months results on an endless search.
Of course, we cannot forget to add a good budget, but this doesn't mean you will find always what you are looking for or in the condition you want.
Collecting is a fun game with yourself.
For sanity, it is important to impose limits or it will take your personal and financial lives.
There are several items that I will never have due to their absurd prices. 12-15 ago there was a second boom of Nirvana collectors and with them the prices went to the sky. The majority of these collectors are gone, but the prices are still there. It is a shame.
I remember the constant fight for HSCN 7"s and later the same happened with Sliver 7"s or the Hormoaning EP. HSCN variations sold for $500!!!
I guess big bucks with small willies and no patience.

thank you. i guess the timing was right for these pieces...they became available and i had the extra money. i remember the amount of hscn showing up on ebay and all the bidders. its the only record with so many color variations that i never chased after. im good with just having a marble blue of it. for me, it was seeing so many people with complete or near complete bleach or sliver families that really inspired my idea of what i wanted really have in my collection. its funny that you mentioned limits. i never really thought about the effect of excessive purchases. but it makes total sense. using specific money for food or bills towards collecting is really irresponsible. the running joke of, looks like im eating top ramen for awhile was said quite often. luckily i never got so far ahead of myself. early last year i had this idea of collecting goals for the year ahead( sort of like the opposite of limits or maybe a different perspective on limits ). anyway, i say to myself ok this year youre going to actively try to get a few key pieces on the list. and my list typically had the real heavy hitters of bleach and sliver...heavy has in, pricey/rare and not listed very often. i knew that in order to meets my goal of a couple pieces, id have build up the money for those items just in case theyd show up. that ended up happening and it was really rewarding!
