Did the seller give you more info? He told me that the main thing with this was to test the etching, so it wasn't a case of "pressing plant employee having fun". It had purpose, at least for Saints/Mushroom Records if not for Nirvana/Waterfront.

So the question is why is the Bleach plate on the other side? Was there a reason to test that plate, or was it just a random, old plate they figured they could use just to set up the machine?
I asked him this before the auction, and he kind of indicated he could dig deeper if I won the auction. He may not be inclined to answer questions from me anymore, so perhaps you could ask him to dig a bit deeper with the Festival production manager? The auction states that the prod. man. wasn't aware of Bleach being on side B though, so there may not be much more to get...

Also, as he knows Frank Cotterell of Waterfront, perhaps you could ask him to ask Frank why the COA included with the regular black Bleach test pressings he sold years ago states that the Bleach records were "pressed by CBS who did all our vinyl at the time", while it has Festival matrix, Festival-sized ring under the labels, and now this final link to Festival in this auction? Was it a simple mistake, or did Waterfront deal with CBS and CBS subcontracted the manufacture to Festival?
