UK editions
#1
Hey,

I wonder if you could help me with two items:

Bleach CD Geffen UK
Does anyone has this edition with a lyrics insert (has posted on Sliver.it)?

In Utero LP UK 2003 Albini mix
How to identify it and do you have a copy for sale?

I have the In Utero LP. I’ll have to get it out and take a look. It’s the first “320” pressing. I’m not sure what the major differences between it and later pressings are. I bought mine sealed and the obvious sign was it didn’t have the Back to Black sticker on it.

There are mixed info here and there and I would like to find the correct copy. I believe there is a diff in back lower right corner - label code and a Made in U.K. but I would like to be certain as there are a few items around (including a few fakes) that seem similar. Thanks for your help.

I pulled out the In Utero LP today. Here are my observations about it.

It directly relates to this listing: https://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-In-Utero/release/841259

And I'm performing a comparison to this one: https://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-In-Utero/release/1559511

- It does not have a "Back To Black" sticker on it, but unless it's sealed, you probably wouldn't know that
- It will not have an MP3 download card included as an insert
- It should have a full-size, double-sided inner insert (not a sleeve). However, the reissues seem to have the same
- On my inner sleeve, there is the misspelling of "Heat-Shaped Box". However, Tourette's is spelled correctly, which doesn't appear to be the case for the reissue or the Canadian 2003 pressing
- On the back of the outer sleeve, under "Recorded by Steve Albini", there should only be three lines of text to the left of the barcode. The reissue has 5 lines. Further, the reissue only has the Sub Pop logo above the barcode. The 2003 copy has "424 536-1" and "LC 07266". The barcode is also formatted differently. Specifically, the reissue does not have the leading "0" and has the final "2" on its own at the end, whereas the 2003 copy has it right after the 1 ("0 720642 453612" instead of "7 20642 45361 2").
- On the record itself, there is only the code "424 536-1" whereas the reissue has "00720642453612".
- The 2003 copy has "BIEM/MCPS" and "LC 07266" added on the label to the right of the spindle hole. On the reissue, this information is at the end of "MADE IN THE EU" that runs along the outer edge of the label. The 2003 Canadian version will not say MADE IN THE EU.

Those are all of the differences I could identify.

Forgot about the matrix codes, which match Discogs.

Side 1: A33 9124 536 S1 320
Side 2: A33 9124 536 S2 320

Hi Jarrod,

Thank you Thank you!!
Superb info. It makes a huge difference.
I really appreciated your effort, I am certain that your reply will help several collectors in this forum.
My apologies for the late reply, it has been a strange and exhausting time.

Anyone has info on BLEACH CD UK with lyrics insert?

Hhmmm... good question.
I have never seen it, though it became popular to include a CD with the LP edition (per example Shellac’s 100 Hurts).
I never seen or heard JOHN LEWIS selling music (though they sell from TVs to polo shirts).
I would say “NO”, but this was the year of the anniversary and maybe they release something locally and in very limited numbers?

I'm not up to speed with all the reissues the last 20 years, but...
I think there WAS a legit Art Vinyl CD+LP sold by John Lewis, but I am not sure if that is the one?
If it is legit, it is based on old "320" mother plates with matrix codes edited by GZ Vinyl, but there was a chat where it was said that the original "320 etc" parts didn't really match (talking about the same Discogs entry linked to by Horst).
John Pette was looking into this, not sure if he is registered on this forum.

Yes it’s legit I bought 3 copies, they were selling a collection of iconic albums re the artwork.
Nirvana, The Stones, Velvet Underground and The Strokes amongst others.
